Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris, born October 20, 1964 is a prominent American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is the first vice president to be female and the highest-ranking female politician in U.S. history, as well as the first African American and first Asian American vice president. A member of Democratic Party, she has been the attorney general of California from 2011 until 2017, and as an United States senator representing California until 2021. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. Following her first job as an Alameda County District Attorney, Harris was recruited to San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Then she was appointed the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003, she was elected district attorney of San Francisco. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010, and was re-elected in 2014. From 2017 until 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris defeated Loretta Sánchez in the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the second African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to serve as senator in the United States Senate.
