She went into pre-labor while waiting at the station. The attendant helped her to a hospital. Strause was born in an in-hospital. Her mother who was half Japanese/half Spanish, split up before she knew she was pregnant. Jeff is her father. Chrishell Strause missed a full year of middle school because she was confined in tent. Strause shared her story of washing her hair in the river as she hid from her friends, and how she used food stamps. When she was 10years old, parents battled addiction and mental illness. She joined the Worldwide Church of God for an extended period of time. Her mother was never able to have any steady employment and Strause describes her as having a free spirit and self-righteous.
